SHAQDI OBVIOUS

Shaqdi has just dropped ‘Obvious’, the third single from her forthcoming EP. Despite hailing from Sweden, the feel of ‘Obvious’ draws from inspirations much further afield, taking inspiration from US R&B legends including Smino, Xavier Omar and Masego. There’s quite a UK electropop feel to the track too, a fact which can be attributed to the fact that Shaqdi now resides in East London, having moved there after studying music at the Kulturama in Stockholm. Speaking about the track, Shaqdi explains: “It’s a song about realising that you wanna be something more with a long time friend. The whole situation is tough because it’s awkward and you don’t want to risk losing the friendship, so you end up trying to drop hints that you think should be obvious to them, but they just don’t get it. Instead you’re just left frustrated and thinking about them constantly, rather than saying how you really feel.” ‘Obvious’ is the third single from her debut EP, Colourless, which will be released in its entirety (with a stream of videos shot by her East London crew) in June.
